Assessment & Evaluation Process
The Assessment and Evaluation (A&E) Center provides assessment and evaluation services for children, adolescents, and adults. Individuals referred to WES often receive their initial services through the A&E Center. The A&E Center is staffed by licensed psychiatrists, licensed psychologists, masters-level clinicians, and program support specialists. The clinical staff conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations for individuals and families. The evaluations seek to help individuals and families better understand their mental health challenges from a culturally appropriate perspective. The evaluations also identify individual and family strengths, include a DSM-IV-R diagnosis, provide recommendations for treatment, and refer individuals/families to appropriate treatment programs. The psychologists of the A&E Center also participate in other roles at WES including research initiatives, clinical training, program consultation, and supervision. The A&E Center works closely with CRISIS/MATES (Mobile Assessment Treatment and Evaluation Services). CRISIS/MATES is a WES program that provides short-term intervention services to children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
